Modular Bookcase
There are sinlge-decker and double- decker cuboid, being applied as two basic units for the bookcase system.
Flexibility
Changeable is the most unique point that distinguishes moduar shelving from other traditional bookshelfs. It can be combined to differet heights with the two fundamental units based on a diversity of requirements in varied circumstances.
Rhythm
Various combinations can be displayed in a random order to create a sense of rhythm.
Circulation Analysis
Primary routes are abstracted and depicted below.
Variously possible circulation for the kids to choose.
Shelfs will be installed as handrail and display picture books.
Lecture Theatre
An entertaining class can be hold at anytime.
YUE SHAN SHUI - HOPE LIBRARY
The overall geometry is borrowed from the solid wood frame chair in my kindergarten 20 years ago, and the shape of the backplane is derived from jigsaw puzzles, a popular game among children.
Instead of hidden joints with hardwares or mortise and tenon, all connections bewteen components are directly penetrating through and fix with wedges, showing a unique plug-in style and catering to the puzzle theme.
The assembly sequence is relatively simple, giving the children an opportunity to exercise their little arms and brains.
